Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at booking confirmation or upon collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, associated charges, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between this terms section and the Rental Agreement, the latter will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Coatbridge, you must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may differ based on the vehicle model, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid full driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address must be provided, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement should also be met.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by phone, or directly at our Coatbridge office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pick-up. All charges are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Ensure the fuel level matches what was provided at the start of the rental, as refueling fees will apply if the level is lower. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please inform us immediately if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You are liable for any parking tickets, traffic offenses, or charges that occur during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Overview
- All rental agreements come with basic third-party insurance included. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts are outlined in your Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available to lower your financial liability. It is beneficial to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the specified excess, unless additional coverage applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations and no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rented Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in other potentially dangerous behaviors. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. The vehicle must not be used for purposes it is not designed for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Limitation of Liability in Coatbridge
To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law in Scotland, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Governing Law in Coatbridge
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
